Illustrated History of the North American Heavyweight Title, Ontario

In May of 1974 The Stomper aka Archie Gouldie had been the North American champion for Calgary's Stampede Wrestling when Dave McKigney brought him in as N.A Champ to open the season. The belt used here was made by Alex Mulko aka Nikita Kalmikoff and is one of the nicest of all his cast belts.

There was also a N.A. Title defended in upper New York state in 1974, Parisi & Stasiak among the holders, that lineage is not included here but may overlap at the end of 1974, this lineage represents Ontario only. Note there were North American Titles on the main circuit (Tunney) not covered here

McKigney's tours were mostly made up as they went along so the title drops out at times to make way for Andre to visit, or featured feuds. This is a fun look at the story of the title, not a complete list of all the tour dates just the ones advertised or reported as title defenses (at the time I originally did this a few years back). Originally at the old site so formatting is a bit off..
