Destroyer vs Patterson 1983

The 'Original Intelligent Sensational Destroyer!' is how the legendary masked man demanded to be billed during his later tenure in Toronto in 1979-83.

Every bout was a wrestling clinic. He was well respected among the Toronto faithful vying for the local Canadian Title and also managing a WWWF title shot vs Bob Backlund in Jan 1980.

The shots are from Louisville NY June 1983 as the Quebec promotion crosses the border. He had battled with Patterson throughout Quebec 82-83 and Patterson goes for the mask in the last pic. Greg Oliver has a pic of Mr Beyer - unmasked ! - from the 2010 CAC at Slam Wrestling

Billy Red & Reggie Love

Classic shot of Billy Red about to 'crown' Reggie Love with his International Tag Title belt at MLG circa 1975.

Gracious Thanks to Terry Dart -and Wes for scanning it for me. There will be a few of Terry's photos going up on both the MLWP and Wildman McKigney sites soon.

Gene Kiniski RIP

Gene Kiniski, a great Canadian and a force in Toronto Wrestling from the 50's to the 80's.

Ad is from March 16 1961 after Frank Townsend had interfered in Kiniski's bout on the previous card vs Primo Carnera. Kiniski would win this one by count-out and continue his winning ways through the 60's.

He would return with his NWA title in 1966 with a big win over Johnny Valentine in his first of many defenses at MLG over his reign

Through the 70's he would return often with bouts vs The Sheik and a title shot at Dory Funk Jr. In 1978 he would pass the torch to Dino Bravo in a fictitious final of a tourny to crown the newly revived Canadian Championship.

In 1982 he had a good series with Cdn Champ Angelo Mosca and still had some of the old spark as the vicious heel vs local hero Mosca. RIP Gene Kiniski 1928 - 2010
